Position Overview: Math & Science Tutor at MST Tutoring
MST Tutoring, LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Math and Science Tutor to support middle and high school students in mastering core STEM subjects. This position focuses on helping students strengthen problem-solving skills, deepen conceptual understanding, and build confidence in challenging math and science coursework.
The ideal candidate is passionate about STEM education, enjoys breaking down complex concepts into approachable steps, and thrives in a 1-on-1 or small group tutoring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, student-centered instruction in:
- Elementary Reading & Writing
- Foundational Math Skills (up to Algebra I/Geometry is preferred, but not required)
- Language Arts (spelling, grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure)
- Mathematics (Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus; Calculus and Statistics a plus)
- High School Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics preferred)
- Study skills, test preparation strategies, and critical thinking development
- Additional duties include:
- Adapting lessons to meet students’ individual learning needs and academic goals
- Tracking progress and communicating regularly with parents and the MST team
- Reinforcing executive functioning skills such as organization, note-taking, and test readiness
- Creating a supportive, structured environment that encourages persistence and academic growth

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field (or current enrollment in such a program)
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience (classroom or small group settings)
- Teaching certification (Math or Science) a plus, but not required
- Availability for at least 3 days/week (weekday afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends)
